Newsletter ADELAIDE SPORTDOG CLUB April 2009
Welcome everybody in 2009, a new year with a lot of new dog adventures ahead of us. Now that we are already in the fourth month of 2009, we thought we need a new Newsletter. We realised that we already had news to share, because we have been training since the Holiday break. The focus has stayed a lot on our precious dogs and the way that we are going to train, that we almost forgot to share the news that we have! First I want to say again that our new Website is up and running www.adelaidesportdogclub.com to keep us all informed about our Club and our proud members and all the activities that we are organizing. Keep watching the site to see what’s going on in Adelaide! With special thanks to our webmasters Cathy and Ryan for doing this great job and keeping the website up to date. If you want to publish anything from pictures to articles, ideas, or sponsoring, don’t hesitate and send it in to Cathy or Ryan who will put it up on the site. Enjoy surfing on this Sportdog Club site.
After the summer break we had a couple of hot weeks. During these hot periods we organized a heat policy for our training. This worked out well for us and for our dog’s offcourse. Now that autumn has started, the better training temperatures are there for us. So now we can keep on training and achieve our goals. While the weather was warm and not much water around, the insects became a bit of a problem in tracking. Too many ants on the food and even the bees came around and started to interrupt our tracking sessions. We decided to stop for a while with the tracking sessions and now that the weather is changing we start to pick up tracking soon again. We also had a few visitors at our club grounds to have a look at the Schutzhund sport. This is a great opportunity for us as a Club to promote the Sport, our Club and Club members in South Australia and we will keep on doing this in the coming future. The advantage of this is that we get new Club members interested and motivated in the Dog sport and become our future competitors and that the new visitors can meet and greet the Schutzhund sport participants, go home with some new dog training methods and or dog behaviours knowledge and with some dog responsibility into the community. I want to thank all the visitors who came to the Club grounds in the past months and we as the Adelaide Sportdog Club are looking forward to seeing you again at one of our training sessions or at the Trials so we can share the world wide dog interest. A couple of members like Josie, Ryan and Dragan travelled this year already to some Sportdog Clubs in Queensland and New South Whales. Our always-lovely vice president Josie visited the Brisbane Sporting Dog Club and she had a look at one of the Rottweilers that she bred “Von Eiffel Sinnomay Rose, Jade” and a friend of her Maree is training this dog in Schutzhund. Also our always motivated and hugging sport friend Ryan “Rhino” went for a visit to the Gold Coast Sportdog Club and had a very good time over there. I almost forgot that Rhino also travelled to Japan in the summer break and visited the famous Judge, Trainer, Breeder, World champion Haruo Masuda. Rhino came back with lots of information about training and the Schutzhund sport. I want to thank Rhino for sharing this information and experience and pass it on to the members of the ASC, thanks from all of us Rhino. Dragan our Doberman expert, travelled to our sport friends at the Waratah Sportdog Club in Sydney. The Waratah members were training for the up coming Club Trials. We want to wish you all the best for these trial days and we are looking forward to see the end results. Success for these wonderful days and you will see us probably when the National Championship 2009 are at your Club this year in Sydney. Club members of the ASC keep on travelling to all the friendly Sportdog Clubs and enjoy the beautiful Sportdog Culture. You only become better if you learn every day a little bit more. Keep on going with the good work guys. Further we will keep on working behind the scenes on our short-term goals for the ASC. Training will be on the coming weeks and we will soon be back with some more news and some dates to put in your agenda’s. The members and myself from the ASC are looking forward to meet you all on one of the training sessions, at the trials or seminars in Australia.
Yours sincerely,
Club Secretary. Adelaide Sportdog Club Michael Kamphuis.
